Viewshed Inventory

A viewshed represents the total extent of a landscape that can be viewed from a single point. For parks and trails, viewshed inventories can serve as important tools to record changes in the landscape over time, help to provide visualization for projects, and support conservation efforts for scenic places such as the PHNST.

In 2019, NVRC staff conducted scenic viewshed inventories at thirteen locations throughout Northern Virginia using National Park Service scenic resource evaluation procedures. Click on the button below to visit NVRC's viewshed inventory StoryMap which includes locations, photos, and view descriptions.
